Upon learning his misogynist, conspiracy-spewing workmate holds a winning ticket for the most coveted prize on earth – the Global Early Retirement Lottery – a listless factory worker stops at nothing to ensure the reward goes to a more deserving citizen, namely himself, only to discover the prize is not exactly as advertised.

Series Overview

In 2054, the only hope for escaping a life lived under the thumb of the global corporatocracy dominated by U.R. Products Inc. is death…. or winning the Global Early Retirement Lottery. AKA G.E.R.L. AKA the weekly drawing sponsored by the Consortium of Productive Countries, which transports its lucky winners from their soul-crushing slog through life to the retirement of their dreams. 

So it’s not surprising that Elliot Pilgrim is deeply dismayed when he learns his loud-mouthed, misogynist, conspiracy-spewing workmate, Jerry Dingle, has somehow procured a winning ticket for this most coveted prize. A loyal follower of men’s rights activist Blade Johnson, Jerry believes the lottery is actually a feminist plot to rid the world of men. His winning ticket is just a means of infiltrating the Lottery Transition Centers, which he and his fellow “Johnson Loyalists” plan to blow up so that they can expose this nefarious conspiracy against the “male race” to the world.

Monica Levy, a fellow U.R. Products Inc. drudge and the only person Elliot’s had feelings for since losing his wife and child, urges Elliot to forget about Jerry, his ticket, and silly conspiracy theory and instead come to her weekly lotto watch party – an invite Elliot takes as a sure sign his feelings for Monica are finally being reciprocated. Sadly, his hopes for a burgeoning romance are quickly dashed upon learning Monica has a partner.

Dejected, Elliot decides that if Jerry Dingle does indeed possess a winning ticket, he must stop at nothing to ensure the world’s greatest prize goes to a much more deserving citizen, namely himself, jettisoning him into a whirlwind adventure that leaves him wishing he had read the fine print.

Think Terry Gilliam’s Brazil meets Dr. Strangelove, peppered with some inspiration from “Breakfast of Champions,” and join us for the wildly inventive, irreverent, wacky, and buoyant ride that is Goodbye Blue Mondays.

Meet the Team

  • Gregory Bayne

    CREATOR, WRITER, DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, SOUND DESIGNER

    Gregory is a writer, filmmaker, and artist residing in Washington. Since editing the lauded documentary Trudell in 2005, Gregory has gone on to edit, produce, direct, write, and shoot numerous documentaries, features, digital productions, and short films. Notable work includes the intimate documentaries Jens Pulver | DRIVEN and Bloodsworth - An Innocent Man, the award-winning TV pilot Zero Point, and his debut feature as a writer and director, 6 Dynamic Laws for Success (in Life, Love & Money). Goodbye Blue Mondays is Gregory’s first foray into audio storytelling.

    DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, “ELLIOT PILGRIM”

    Logan Donovan is a Northern California grown actor, director, writer, photographer, and producer who lives in Los Angeles. Logan is the Founder and Director of STORY LAB, a collaborative community for artists creating and developing stories to share with the world. Goodbye Blue Mondays is one of STORY LAB’s first projects to be completed with many more on the way. Logan’s directorial credits include the short films Iron&Dirt, Dreamland, and his upcoming short documentary Century Sisters. Some of his TV Credits include Masters of Sex, Grey’s Anatomy, Colony, and Harry’s Law.

  • Jennifer Lafleur

    as “MONICA LEVY”

    Jennifer Lafleur is an actor, director, and producer most recently seen in Jordan Peele’s NOPE, and on the television shows Search Party, Castle Rock, The Good Doctor, Medical Police, Room 104, and Big Little Lies. She recently wrote, directed and performed in the award-winning short film Baby Kate. A frequent collaborator of the Duplass Brothers, she starred in The Do-Deca-Pentathlon, appeared in Baghead and Jeff Who Lives At Home, and co-created (with Ross Partridge) the series Wedlock starring alongside Mark Duplass and Rob Corddry. Goodbye, Blue Mondays is Lafleur’s second collaboration with Bayne after starring in 6 Dynamic Laws for Success.

  • Travis Swartz

    as “JERRY DINGLE”

    Travis Swartz is a prolific producer, comedian, actor, writer, and director working from Idaho. Best known for his alter ego “Hank Patterson - the world-renowned, self-proclaimed fly fishing expert and guide,” Swartz has performed to sold-out crowds all over the US and been to some of the best fly fishing spots in the country. He’s starred in several independent features, including the lead in 6 Dynamic Laws for Success, Norman Waiting, Most Funniest, and Hank Patterson’s Reel Montana Adventure. Swartz currently hosts the “Outdoor MisAdventures” podcast.

  • Jonathan Freeman

    as “THE AUTHOR”

    Jonathan Freeman is a Texas-bred, LA-based actor of film, TV, voice, and stage. He also enjoys making music and is the creative force behind the bands Jonny Boy, and Johnny Marfa and The Lights.

  • Darren Augustus

    SOUND ENGINEER

    Darren Augustus is a production sound mixer and studio audio engineer. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Darren began his career working in studios recording music as well as engineering live events. After moving to Los Angeles, Darren transitioned into film location sound recording and post-production sound mixing. Darren has been involved in multiple projects, including features, commercials, audiobooks, documentaries, and more. Currently, Darren is an in-demand engineer, working on such notable projects as: Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated, NFL Films: Joe Montana, Jonas Brothers: Chasing Happiness, and Marvel: Behind the Mask.

  • Ryan Bayne

    COMPOSER

    Ryan Bayne E is a singer/songwriter, composer, and music video director from Boise, Idaho. After writing the title tracks for Jens Pulver | DRIVEN, and Bloodsworth - An Innocent Man, Ryan moved into composing, creating the entire soundtrack for the film 6 Dynamic Laws for Success (in Life, Love & Money), and The Sleepover. Currently, Ryan is at work recording his 3rd studio album.
